Biosolids programs are affected by changes to solid waste disposal, air quality and water quality regulations. Current and near future legislation and regulation are aimed at diverting organic material from landfills and will phase out burial and Alternative Daily Cover (ADC).
Diverting food waste and biosolids from landfills will require greater onsite production and use of biogas, increased land application of treated biosolids and deployment of new technologies
